Heat pumps are highly efficient heating and cooling systems that move heat using electricity instead of creating it by burning fuel. Upgrading to a heat pump in your home can significantly reduce your energy costs, improve year‑round comfort, and lower greenhouse gas emissions compared to oil, propane, or electric resistance heating.

Because of these benefits, Mass Save® offers heat pump rebates for both whole‑home systems that fully replace a fossil fuel heater and partial or dual fuel setups that work alongside an existing furnace or boiler.

Mass Save Heat Pump Rebates in 2026

Mass Save heat pump rebates will be available in 2026, but the amounts and equipment requirements are changing compared to 2025. While both ductless mini splits and ducted heat pumps are eligible, only systems on the Mass Save Heat Pump Qualified Product List are eligible for rebates. In addition, systems that use R410A refrigerant will no longer qualify because of updated federal regulations.

This makes choosing the right equipment and system sizing more important than ever. Working with a Mass Save participating contractor, like Kearney, can help you avoid surprises and make sure you receive the incentive you’re expecting.

Here’s what the Mass Save heat pump rebates will look like starting January 1, 2026:

  • Whole‑home heat pump rebates:
      • $2,650 per ton
      • Up to a maximum of $8,500 per home
  • Partial‑home (dual fuel) heat pump rebates:
    • $1,125 per ton
    • Up to a maximum of $8,500 per home
