LEARN MORE

Spring allergies are a cause for annoyance for many homeowners throughout North Shore, MA and Seacoast, NH—but did you know that fall allergies can be just as bad? If you’ve been sneezing and itching your eyes more than usual recently, it might be more than just a common cold. At Kearney HVAC, we want you to breathe easier in your home, which is why we offer indoor air quality services to help combat allergy symptoms and reduce pollutants.

What Causes Fall Allergies?

Ragweed is the most common allergy trigger in the fall, and can release pollen into the air from August through the end of October. Even if you don’t live near where ragweed grows, its pollen can travel for hundreds of miles.

Mold is another allergy trigger that can cause allergy symptoms. While mold growth is most common during the summer months when humidity levels are high, it can thrive any time of the year in moist conditions.

Dust mites are another year-round contributor to indoor allergies. It’s common to find dust mites in warm humid areas of your home but are too small to see with the naked eye. They most often cause fall allergies when you turn on your heating system because they live in the dust that has accumulated since the last time it was turned on.

Indoor Air Quality Solutions

At Kearney HVAC, we offer several options for reducing your allergy symptoms within your home.

Air Purification Systems

According to the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, air purifiers can help reduce indoor allergy symptoms. However, when you’re looking for an air purification system that will bring you relief from your fall allergies, it’s important to find one that is proven to remove allergens like ragweed, mold, and dust mites. When it comes to filters, a minimum efficiency reporting value (MERV) rating of 10 or higher or high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters are both great options.

Kearney installs Aprilaire and iWave-CiWave-R, and iWave-M  air purifiers, both of which can help reduce the allergens in your home. These air purification systems offer easy installation that connect directly to your home’s HVAC or ductwork, offering several benefits on top of allergy relief, including:

  • Elimination of mold, bacteria, and viruses
  • Reduced odors
  • Improved sleep quality

Dehumidifiers

Too much moisture and humidity can quickly lead to mold growth, which is a known allergen but can even threaten the structural integrity of your home. Our team can install a whole-home dehumidifier to help you combat moisture intrusion and keep your family safe from mold growth and the many health effects it can cause.

Humidifiers

Just like too much humidity can cause problems for your home, so can too little. The EPA recommends that indoor humidity levels stay within the 30-50% range to keep you and your home safe and comfortable. When your home is too dry dust levels will increase, meaning so will dust mites. Our team can help balance the indoor humidity levels in your home with whole-home humidifier installation.
